A very peculiar thing has been happening, 2 weeks ago I was sitting at my computer wondering who, if anyone, would be coming to my shows at the Soho Playhouse. There were 21 of them and I have never done a run like this…well…I have had 11 shows and more than half of them have been sold out. The others have been full of strangers, not friends or family or friends of friends.
I am so grateful and overwhelmed that people have been coming out to see After Endgame: A Comedy Show About Chess (I think that added subtitle was smart, because the chess heads have been coming out in droves!)
It has been a goal of mine to do a 4 week off broadway run of a solo show for over a decade and this has far exceeded my expectations.
There are 11 more opportunities to see the show but please do not wait until the final few shows as I am sure they will sell out.
February 27 would be a good day to come because the Drama Desk Awards is sending someone to consider nominating for Outstanding Solo Show.
TICKETS FOR SOHO PLAYHOUSE Feb 25-March 9th
TICKETS FOR MARCH 30 + 31 IN LOS ANGELES
I have spent 15 years grinding doing comedy and emailing and texting people to come to my shows and it can be a fun but lonely ride. I asked Cory Cavin to direct this production and it’s taken it from a good show, to an incredible production. Joshua Hartzler my producer has been an amazing collaborator. The theater has been turned into a chess museum with historical chess artifacts adorning the walls and that would never have happened if this was just a solo show, it’s because of Cory and Josh and I working on it together. And the audiences have been loving the museum, it’s made the show even better!
COME CHECK IT OUT! Bye!
